Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is about to add to its Zombies mode when it releases its fifth map, Shattered Veil, as part of the Season 3 update. Though there are still no official details, Treyarch is now teasing what’s to be expected—and fans are already piecing together the clues to Eddie Richtofen’s Liberty Falls mansion.
Released on April 3rd, this latest saga picks up from The Tomb and provides a deeper glimpse into the lore, including a new fresh Main Quest Easter Egg to find.
Main Quest Story: Enter the Veil
Broken Veil continues from where The Tomb had stopped, as the previous Requiem group unveiled the powerful Sentinel Artifact. With the reality-bending abilities—capable of warping Prima Materia, the building block of the universe—the group is optimistic to release Samantha Maxis from the Dark Aether.
Controlled by S.A.M. (Synaptic Algorithm Module), an AI modeled after Maxis, the player is instructed to bring the Sentinel Artifact to Liberty Falls. The AI states that if the Artifact is to reach its full potential, it must be infused with rare elements unique to the town.
This leads us to Richtofen’s Liberty Falls mansion, inhabited by Richtofen, S.A.M., and mysterious Project Janus. Players will arrive ten days after the outbreak seen in the cinematic footage. Ten days have also passed since Richtofen’s disappearance—an event apparently triggered by S.A.M. itself.
Eagle-eyed fans have spotted a painting inside the mansion that appears to depict a member of The Order—a mysterious cult from Black Ops 4 Zombies’ Chaos narrative. Surrounded by bizarre machinery, the image suggests a stronger connection between Chaos and Aether lore.
In Black Ops 4, The Order—led by the High Priest of Chaos—sought to evolve humanity by using Sentinel Artifacts to control Prima Materia. With these artifacts active again, their influence may still persist—possibly driving Richtofen’s obsession.
Richtofen is portrayed as a broken man, driven by the tragic loss of his wife and son. His pursuit of the Artifact is framed as a desperate act to rewrite history, no matter the cost.
Boss Fight Predictions: Who’s the Final Menace?
Though the final boss has not been confirmed, here are the leading theories, ranked in order of likelihood:
3. The Mansion’s T-Rex Skeleton
A massive T-Rex fossil stands in the foyer of Richtofen’s mansion. Some believe it may animate into a living nightmare for players to battle. Though speculative, its cinematic appeal makes it a fun and wild theory.
2. Eddie Richtofen
Having mysteriously vanished, Richtofen may return as a corrupted or desperate version of himself. His importance to the story and emotional drive makes him a plausible final enemy.
1. S.A.M.
All signs point to S.A.M. being the most likely final boss. From its betrayal of Richtofen to its suspicious control over team movements, the AI may be orchestrating events with a secret agenda. Many fans speculate it may be linked to The Forsaken, the ultimate antagonist from Cold War Zombies.
S.A.M.’s manipulation, resourcefulness, and emotionally charged actions hint at something far more dangerous lying beneath its synthetic surface—perhaps a plot to escape the Dark Aether once and for all.
