Apparently, the company has received interest from various potential buyers, such as Microsoft, Tencent, and Kakao. Tsuguhiko Kadokawa, a founding member who was against a takeover, is no longer in the picture, and the publicly-traded company is now better positioned for a buyout.
FromSoftware being part of the puzzle is certainly a perk, but Sony’s main motivation for acquiring Kadokawa would be to bolster its expansion into anime. Sony currently owns anime production company Aniplex and Crunchyroll, a distribution platform that provides subscribers with access to countless anime shows and movies.
Where do you sit on this matter? Will Sony bite the bullet and move forward with this acquisition? Discuss in the comments section below.
