How to get and use Dragon Orbs in Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero

As you progress through the Episode Battles, you may have noticed an option to equip Dragon Orbs. But, unlike most items, the game doesn’t explicitly explain what it is, nor does it say how to get it.

We’re here to clear up any confusion with this Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero Dragon Orb guide.

How to get Dragon Orbs in Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero

Dragon Orbs decrease the difficulty of alternative pathways, known as Secondary Clear Conditions. These are additional challenges or objectives within a chapter that, when completed, unlock new storylines or character developments. You can get the Dragon Orb by summoning Shenron and selecting ‘I want to complete an Episode Battle.’

Collecting the seven Dragon Balls for Shenron should be easy enough, as there are multiple ways to farm them. This includes tasks from Whis’s Stamp Book or Offline battling. Once you’ve obtained and spoken to Shenron, you can make a wish for the Dragon Orb, transferring it over to your inventory.

How to use Dragon Orbs in Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero

To use your Dragon Orb in Sparking Zero, locate a chapter that divides into multiple pathways. One will be the canon version within the Dragon Ball universe, and the rest pertain to a What If scenario that’s brand-new to the narrative. As long as you have a Dragon Orb, you should see an option to ‘Use Orb’ at the bottom of the screen.

I highly recommend saving the Dragon Orbs for the more challenging Episode Battles with a restricted time limit. For example, I used it to easily knock out the elite opponents in the Goku Saga’s The Truth About Zamasu. Upon victory, it unlocked the alternate pathway, expanding Goku’s storyline.

I will say, though, that the description of the Dragon Orb may throw you off on this subject. The explanation states, “This (Dragon Orb) will lower the difficulty of the Secondary Clear Conditions, but the match will not be counted as a victory.” The wording here makes it seem like it won’t count toward the alternative path; however, this isn’t the case. I tested it out, and you still get the Secondary Clear Condition achievement, even with a Dragon Orb active.

It should also be noted that Dragon Orbs are the only way to lower the difficulty of the alternate routes. Reducing the difficulty level generally negates these particular tasks, as it solely focuses on the canon timeline. On the other hand, the Dragon Orb bypasses this rule to ease the tension of Sparking Zero’s most formidable challenges. So, if you’re fed up with an Episode Battle, get the Dragon Orb from Shenron to make it much more manageable.
