The Midnight Walk Returns | PS5 & PS VR2 Preview

With the May 8 launch of The Midnight Walk for PS5 and PS VR2 approaching, anticipation is building for what appears to be a distinctively creepy and spellbinding first-person adventure. Originally unveiled as far back as last year’s State of Play, the game was immediately a cut above the rest with its handcrafted aesthetic and atmosphere that can only be described as “cozy horror.”

Located in a surreal world of distorted antiques, grotesquely lovable creatures, and several too many sinister surprises, The Midnight Walk is an experience that resists categorization. Its look, clearly based on stop-motion animation, lends the game an unbeatable feel and an unearthly sense of place.

As the clock ticks down to release, we took advantage of the opportunity to sit down with the creators of the game—Sweden’s independent game studio Moonhood—on an entirely new section of the game. Our walkthrough revealed even more of the game’s lush, tactile worlds and its own special blend of charm and unease.

If this sneak preview is anything to judge by, The Midnight Walk won’t just be a game—it’ll be an adventure into the enigmatic and beautiful unknown.
