This week I worked on backporting some smaller features into previous missions, updated the loadscreens, and started work on the victory cutscenes.
Salutations,
In the past two weeks, I finished off the final boss (which I won’t go into – it’s a surprise ;)), and the last mission. And with that done, it was time to apply some of the nicer features to previous missions.
The new goblin enemies will now appear in earlier missions, as one would expect. It does make them quite a bit harder than they were originally, so will need some time later to balance things out.
For instance, here’s a goblin berserker smacking the player around in the Fort Defense mission.
Speaking of new enemies, they’ve been integrated into the special attack system now. If you defeat enough berserkers, for instance, you’ll upgrade the way of fire.
I also took a look at changing the way the loading screen images work. Previously they took the entire screen and stretched in a manner which wasn’t particularly nice. They’ve been reduced to a window now, and some of them have different art now.
Behold the main loading screen
And the loading screen for the missions.
And with that part all done, I decided to start on something more interesting – the End of the Game.
Once you defeat the final boss, cutscenes will play out – similar to the ones which introduce the game. I won’t be sharing too much of this either – you’ll need to actually finish the game to see them 😉 but here’s the first one. Fresh after having defeated the final boss, you share news of your victory with your army.
And that’s about it for this week.
Next week I plan on finishing off the rest of the cutscenes, and after that, it’s back to work on the tribehome.
Til then
