SEGA and Sports Interactive have announced a substantial delay to Football Manager 25 just a month before its release on PC and console. With the game originally planned to release on November 26, 2024, SEGA pushed the title back into 2025.
With the new simulator game already deemed a catastrophe by fans before launch, after a previous short delay, the title has seen a significant push in its release date.
Just a month before release, SEGA has announced a huge delay to Football Manager 25 until March 2025. A specific release date for the sports simulation title across multiple platforms will be confirmed in a future update.
SEGA and Sports Interactive revealed the delay has occurred as the current development period has “not been sufficient to ensure the game quality and experience” meets fan expectation.
“It has been a difficult development cycle for the studio,” the announcement reads on Twitter. “Many things have been moving slower than we had predicted – despite everyone on the team working at an incredible pace to try and get everything done. Timelines were already tight and, as rightly pointed out by many of your recent comments, we were simply rushing too much and in danger of compromising our usual standards. This has put an enormous amounts of pressure on everyone working across the studio, who are all passionately committed to delivering the best game possible.”
The game’s long awaited gameplay reveal will also now occur in January 2025 instead of this month.
Refunds are available
Sports Interactive and SEGA have told fans who have pre-ordered Football Manager 25 to request refunds from their respective retailers if they’re unhappy with the new release date. While the team notes the disappointment fans may feel over the delay, they also state they’re “extremely sorry”.
When Football Manager 25 does release in March, the game will also release with Advanced Access on PC and Mac for those who pre-order the game. There is currently no news on how long that period will last.
