Splinter Cell Remake is Still in Development, Could Release in 2026 – Rumour

Back in 2021, Ubisoft announced that it had started early development on a ground-up remake of the original Splinter Cell, with Ubisoft Toronto in particular using the Snowdrop Engine (used by Massive Entertainment for The Division, Star Wars Outlaws, and more) to reimagine the stealth classic. Since then, updates on the project and its development have been few and far between (if that), but though many have grown concerned over its status, a fresh report claims that the remake is still very much in development.

As per a report published by Insider Gaming, the Splinter Cell remake is continuing development, and contrary to some speculation, has not been cancelled. As per the report, the title is being developed under the codename North, and is currently tentatively targeting a 2026 release- though that might not be completely set in stone yet.

Little has been said about the Splinter Cell remake since it was officially confirmed to be in the works, other than job listings indicating that it would feature an “updated” story for “a modern audience” while also delivering “new-generation visuals and gameplay”.

Earlier this year, a report claimed that the Splinter Cell remake was targeting a 2025-26 release. Read more on that through here.
