Arena Overview
The Arena in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is an excellent source of gold, experience, and a fun way to test your combat skills. Located in the Imperial City, it is available early in the game after you exit the sewers.
Betting System
- Speak to the NPC outside the Arena to place a bet.
- Bet 25, 50, or 100 gold.
- If successful, you double your gold.
- Each match lasts about 3 minutes.
- Odds are 50/50 — pure luck.
Fighting in the Arena
To enter the Arena, go to the Bloodworks and speak to Owyn. Choose light or heavy armor and begin your battles.
Key Rules
- Arena hours: 9 AM – 9 PM
- You cannot bet on your own fights.
- You must wear Arena-provided armor.
- You cannot loot enemies.
- Rest and heal between battles using the Red Room stand.

Fight Strategies
Gladiator Rank
- Three Argonians: Kill the armed one first to avoid disarm attempts.
- Khajiit: High defense, use power attacks.
- Breton: Blocks with Elven Longsword — counterattack on his swings.
Hero Rank
- Imperial Hero: Uses katana — bait and block power attacks.
- Altmer Hero: Fire caster — strafe and close in fast.
- Yellow Team Champion: 3-on-1 or 4-on-1 — kill archer first to prevent ghost summon. Let Porkchop the boar tank damage.
Note: Do not kill Porkchop. Everyone will be sad.
Becoming Grand Champion
To become Grand Champion, you must defeat Agronak gro-Malog.
Option 1: Without Side Quest
- Level 10, high defense, long battle.
- Use dodges, blocks, and healing items.
Option 2: With Side Quest
- Start Origin of the Gray Prince by speaking to Agronak.
- Go to Crowhaven, defeat enemies, find Lord Lovidicus’ journal.
- Return to Agronak — he becomes depressed and won’t fight.
- You get +3 Blade, +3 Block, +3 Athletics.
What Occurs After Becoming Champion
As Grand Champion, you get:
- 1,000 gold
- A very annoying adoring fan who follows you around
You can dismiss or kill the fan. Killing him may start the Dark Brotherhood quest. He respawns in 3 days and can be re-recruited.
Extra Perks
- Talk to Ysabel for weekly monster fights and more gold.
- You gain fame and the title of Grand Champion.
Final Tip: The Arena is a classic side quest—full of gold, excitement, and fame. Equip smartly, fight tactically, and always protect Porkchop!
