Nintendo has officially announced that the Nintendo Switch 2 is launching on June 5, 2025, for $449.99 in the US and £396 in the UK. Pre-orders are live as of April 9 in the US and April 8 in the UK, though stock may be limited due to tariff problems in North America.
Hardware Improvements
The Switch 2 retains the hybrid form factor with handheld and docked modes. It features a 7.9-inch 1080p LCD screen with a 120Hz refresh rate in handheld mode. When docked, it delivers 4K resolution at 60fps, supported by a redesigned dock with a built-in fan.
It comes with 256GB of internal storage and supports microSD Express cards. A new top-mounted USB-C port supports new peripherals like the Switch 2 Camera.
Joy-Con 2 Controllers
The Joy-Con 2 controllers magnetically snap onto the console for increased stability and feature a mouse-style interface for pointing and interaction. The new C button enables access to new features like GameChat.
New Online Features: GameChat and Camera
GameChat enables voice chat and screen sharing for up to 12 players using the built-in microphone. It’s free until April 2026 and integrates with the new Switch 2 Camera.
