We’re now less than a week away from the launch of New World’s Aeternum expansion and the welcoming of console players to the mix. And before that launch, you’re going to know what the heck is happening and when, right? So Amazon is obliging the community with a rundown of exactly what to expect and the timeline of opening – because the regions and platforms are not all opening at once.
- October 13th 3 a.m. EDT: Preloading for PS5 SIEE and Xbox X|S begins.
- October 13th at 9 a.m. EDT: Preloading for PS5 SIEA/Asia begins.
- October 14th at 11:30 p.m. EDT: Downtime across all regions begins and PC preloading begins (Aeternum will display as an update you can apply).
- October 15th at 3 a.m. EDT: European and Asia-Pacific servers launch (bonuses go live at 7 a.m. EDT).
- October 15th at 9 a.m. EDT: Americas servers launch.
The rest of Amazon’s dev blog reiterates the server rules that the studio has previously announced: that existing servers are now considered legacy servers, that new servers are called standard servers, and that you can transfer from standard to legacy but not from legacy to standard. There are also “console-only” standard worlds available. Region transfers will be (temporarily, we assume?) disabled with the release of Aeternum.
In other New World news, Amazon has continued releasing episodes in the Discovering Aeternum series, which again is more useful because it shows off the stunning game world, not so much that it’s conveying information anyone our audience (let alone most console gamers) need. But they’re here anyway: The latest episodes focus on the Cutlass Keys map and holiday event bosses.
